Want to feel great and make a difference? Our centers have a suggestion: volunteer at our one of our family of health care centers.

"Volunteering is good for you," says Stuart Lindeman, Senior Vice President of Operations for Revera Health Systems. "Studies show that volunteers are happier, have higher self-esteem and live longer than non-volunteers."

"Of course, most people don't become volunteers for what volunteering can do for them," he notes. "They do it to help others."

"At our centers, we have a real mix of residents. Many are elderly, but some are younger. Many may be cognitively impaired, but many are quite sharp and interesting. So there's a wide range of needs and activities that volunteers can help with."

Volunteers at our centers perform a variety of duties. They help with arts and crafts and other recreational programs, they assist residents at meal times and on excursions, they read newspapers and run errands.

"We let volunteers tell us what they can do comfortably, and what they enjoy doing," says Mr. Lindeman. "We're open to all suggestions, too. For example, if someone has a talent or skill, like music or gardening or woodworking, we welcome them to come teach or perform."

"Our volunteers make our center a happier place for everyone," says Mr. Lindeman. "And they seem to enjoy their work, too. In fact, we have some volunteers who've been coming to our centers for years. We love them!"

Just contact one of our centers today and see what a difference one can make in the life of a senior.
