Christmas Craft Fair The Dorchester, Kelowna, BC
The fair kicked off to the sounds of Seasonal Music, the smells of Hot Mulled Apple Cider and sights of forty (40) booths of Festive Crafts. The secret ingredient to a successful, fun filled Craft Fair was the hoards of shoppers who poured in to take away baked goods, wood crafts, handmade soaps, cards, candies, quilts, purses and the list goes on. Approximately four hundred (400) to five hundred (500) shoppers and spectators, some of whom were prospective residents, invited guests, Health Care Workers and family members enjoyed the five (5) hour event. Others were attracted by the media announcements and flyers spread among the city’s Senior Centers, Doctors’ offices, various clinics and churches, as well as the attractive posters which were hung up around the city at various locations. It is estimated that from the sale of raffle tickets and sale of coffee and doughnuts, approximately four hundred ($400) to five hundred ($500) was raised for the Kelowna Food Bank, as well as a wagon full of food. Vonnie Lavers, the Director of the Kelowna Food Bank will be invited to come over to The Dorchester to be presented with the food and cash at a future resident meeting.
