Mardi Gras Fête
Churchill Place, Oakville, ON

Churchill Place celebrated the 18th anniversary of our wonderful residence with a New Orleans style Mardi Gras. Our entrance way set up as a New Orleans street complete with lamp post, New Orleans street sign and a decorative bench, where residents could sit to have their photo taken wearing decorated Venitian masks. The party area was decorated with purple, red and gold fabric draped from corners of the ceiling and adorning the fireplace mantles. Residents & guests were dressed in their finest attire, some of the ladies wearing beautiful gowns and some of the gentlemen in tuxedos. Everyone was given Mardi Gras beads, feather masks and gold chocolate coins.

A formal sit-down dinner included some outstanding culinary delights such as jambalaya gumbo soup, Bourbon Street Chicken and Chateaubriand, and a delicious Louisiana Bread Pudding with custard and bourbon sauce. The entertainment for the evening was the Harvey Siegal Dixieland band who inspired many of our residents & guests to dance and really get into the mood of the evening. A juggler, dressed in a jester suit entertained and mingled with the partygoers.

Residents & guests had the opportunity to have their picture drawn by a talented characturist ~ a wonderful take home party favour as a momento of the evening. The managers were adorned with brightly coloured boas and feathers in their hair. Our Bourbon Street bartender was wearing a Mardi Gras top hat - covered in brightly coloured beads – and serving Champagne punch and red & white wine. The Mardi Gras party was a wonderful evening that was enjoyed by all!
